OSHA TRAINING IN ARIZONA

The Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health (ADOSH) serves as the regulatory authority in Arizona and operates under the Industrial Commission of Arizona (ICA). ADOSH is responsible for conducting inspections and enforcing penalties throughout the state.

OSHA Training Standards For Arizona You Should Know

If a State Plan’s standards are deemed as effective as Federal OSHA standards, they become enforceable regulations for both employers and employees under Federal OSHA jurisdiction. Arizona’s State Plan covers certain private sector businesses as well as all public employees.

While Federal OSHA standards generally form the foundation for State Plans, Arizona has established its own specific occupational health and safety standards for certain industries, including:

  • General Industry

  • Hand and Portable Powered Tools

  • Commercial Driving Operations

  • Construction Industry

  • Fall Protection

  • Compressed Gas and Air (General) and Air Receivers

  • Equipment

  • Enforcement Programs

  • Agriculture

  • Field Sanitation

It’s important to note that even with a State Plan, some workers and businesses remain under Federal OSHA jurisdiction. These include:

  • Federal employment

  • U.S. Postal Service and private contractors operating USPS facilities

  • Private maritime companies

  • Contractors/subcontractors working on federally owned sites

  • Copper smelters in private companies

  • Concrete and asphalt batch plants tied to mining operations

  • Indian reservations

  • Aircraft cabin crew and their working conditions aboard operating aircraft

  • Any hazards, industries, areas, operations, or facilities not covered by the State Plan

Additionally, while OSHA mandates compliance with certain safety standards, it does not require OSHA training itself. However, OSHA strongly recommends employees complete OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour Construction training programs, as they cover essential safety topics relevant across various levels of construction work.
