OSHA TRAINING IN FLORIDA

OSHA was established to protect workers and help employers develop safer work environments. Similar to other states, OSHA Florida enforces a broad set of industry-specific standards and regulations, along with federal and state laws, especially focusing on training requirements for construction workers, managers, contractors, and employers.

OSHA Training Obligations You Need To Know For Florida

Florida does not have a separate State Plan for Occupational Health and Safety programs. However, workers and employers in Florida—especially those in the private sector—are encouraged to follow Federal OSHA regulations.

While OSHA does not mandate training for all employees or employers, it does require training on certain topics covered in OSHA courses. OSHA recommends that Floridians complete the OSHA 10 Hour and OSHA 30 Hour training programs.

Additionally, Miami-Dade County has specific rules for construction employers. In this county, employees working for private or public construction companies on projects valued at up to $1 million must complete at least 10 hours of OSHA construction safety training to receive a DOL card.
