Colorado does not operate its own State Plan; consequently, it falls under the jurisdiction of Federal OSHA. This includes most private companies and contractors within the state. As mentioned earlier, states without an official State Plan are required to comply with Federal OSHA regulations.
Therefore, both employees and employers in Colorado must comply with Federal OSHA Standards and Regulations.
While OSHA does not mandate that employees complete OSHA training, it strongly recommends that workers complete the 10-hour and 30-hour safety training courses. This is because certain training topics covered in OSHA courses are required for both employees and employers.
Even though Federal OSHA regulations do not legally require this training, many employers still prefer their workers to complete the OSHA 10-Hour course, and supervisors to complete the OSHA 30-Hour course, due to the comprehensive coverage of workplace safety issues these courses provide.
