When OSHA was established, there were very few federal laws in place to protect workers and ensure safe working conditions, making jobs in construction and other general industries especially hazardous.
Because Ohio does not have an official state plan for occupational safety and health, federal OSHA retains jurisdiction over the state’s workforce.
Although not mandated by federal law, OSHA recommends that supervisors take the 30-Hour training course and entry-level employees complete the 10-Hour course, as most Ohio employers expect workers to have a basic understanding of safety protocols and general site awareness.
