Washington, District of Columbia (commonly known as Washington, DC), does not have an official state plan. As mentioned earlier, in states without a state plan, most private sector workplaces and federal government employees are regulated under Federal OSHA jurisdiction.

OSHA Training Responsibilities For Washington, DC

Since federal OSHA does not cover state and government employees, public sector workers in the District of Columbia must follow the regulations set by the District of Columbia Office of Risk Management (DCORM). DCORM oversees safety training based on OSHA standards and is responsible for conducting inspections and investigations.

Workers under Federal OSHA jurisdiction are required to complete job-specific safety training. Additionally, DCORM recommends that public sector employees participate in safety training programs that comply with federal standards.

As always, OSHA encourages workers to complete OSHA training—OSHA 10-hour courses for entry-level employees and OSHA 30-hour courses for supervisors.
